Dan Scanlan

It all began with a red Ferrari around the corner and a red Thunderbird across the street back in a New York suburb.

That's what sparked journalist Dan Scanlan's interest in cars back in the 1960s. Dan put that love into practice in the mid-1980s, doing automotive reviews for the NBC-TV affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida. When he moved to the Florida Times-Union, those reviews continued in the paper's WHEELS, now AUTO section, with in-depth looks at the design, price, fuel mileage and utility of new cars, trucks and SUVs. That means a Bentley one week, and a Toyota the next, plus everything else in between ranging in cost from $10,000 to $1.6 million(really!!!). He also does stories on speciality, racing and classic cars, plus special auto events all over the country.
